We're pleased to share the completed installation of a bespoke Simplicity 35 Canopy at Stockwood Discovery Centre, Luton, where it has been erected to protect the beautifully restored Luton Tram No. 6.
Although we have no photos unveiling the tram, we've included a reference image. With just a few finishing touches and some final landscaping by the Discovery Centre, the exhibit is almost ready to welcome visitors and promises to be a fantastic addition to the site.
The canopy measures 18,000mm wide with a 5,500mm projection and is finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey (Textured). To meet the project's unique requirements, the installation incorporates a free-standing goal post framework, a rear privacy screen and fixed glass side frames to both sides, providing year-round protection while maintaining excellent visibility of the tram.
The installation was expertly carried out by David Nott & Sons, who worked closely with the site's requirements and even made bespoke adjustments to the canopy system to ensure a perfect fit. Their feedback on the Simplicity 35 system was extremely positive, describing it as "a very good system" to work with.
Projects like this demonstrate the versatility of the Simplicity 35 Canopy System. Whether protecting heritage vehicles, creating covered public spaces or providing weather protection for commercial environments, the system can be adapted to suit a wide range of applications.
We're delighted to have played a part in helping preserve this important piece of Luton's transport history and look forward to seeing visitors enjoy the completed exhibit for many years to come.
